صدقة الفطر
Fitrana (Zakat al-Fitr) is the charitable donation owed by every Muslim at the end of Ramadan, before the Eid prayer. It ensures that those less fortunate can also join in the joy of Eid, and purifies the fasting person from shortcomings.
Fitrana is a small, fixed donation given on behalf of every member of a household — including children and the elderly — at the close of Ramadan. Traditionally, it is the value of one meal (one saa' of staple food) per person.
Every Muslim who has enough food for themselves and their family for the day of Eid is responsible for paying fitrana for each member of their household.
Fitrana must be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer so it can reach those in need in time for the celebration. Give early so we can distribute it promptly.
